Level 1 – Basic Open Water

Tennessee Divers specializes in Private Instruction for 1 to 3 people. Private Instruction has some real advantages for the beginning diver. I can teach to your specific learning style and focus instruction on specific areas that might need more attention. Also, I can be flexible to your schedule by teaching weekdays or weekends, working around your schedule. The typical “cattle call” training of 12 or more students is conducted on a set schedule that you must abide by.

Training is for a lifetime. Once certified, you will be able to dive anywhere in the world at any time. Certification generally takes a total of 4 days. The first two days focus on classroom instruction and pool work. In the classroom, you will learn the physics and physiology associated with scuba. Understanding these fundamentals will help you maximize the enjoyment and safety of diving. You will learn all your diving skills in the confined environment of the pool. You will learn gear assembly and disassembly, diving techniques, and emergency skills. You will be breathing underwater your first day! The last two half days will be spent at a local rock quarry. You will demonstrate all the skills you learned in the pool, and then take tours so that you can put into practice what you have learned.

Your diving equipment (Tank, Regulator, Buoyancy Compensator, wet suit (depending on water temperature) will be provided. You are asked to provide your personal equipment (mask, snorkel, fins). This is a one-time investment that should last you for many years. I will go with you to a local dive shop where I will help you pick out your gear. A good budget expectation is around $300.

That is the broad view of the program. I am a phone call away at 615-714-3266 to answer other questions; or you can click on the “Book Now” button and put in your contact information and I will reach out to you.

Let’s get together and mark this item off the bucket list.
